My name is Amy BabingtonCurrently, I am in year 13 and I have been given the position of head girl. With this opportunity, it gives me great pleasure to express to you the highlights of being a part of The Minster College.
I started my education at the College in 2003. Spending 5 crucial years of life here was very rewarding for me. I had the education and emotional support off all my teachers, they allowed me to fulfill goals, move up into higher sets and eventually get the grades that I deserved. When I joined The Minster College I wasn't given the best possible opportunities. I was placed in a lower set than I expected (set 4/6), this was a set back for what I wanted to achieve. My personal teachers and head of year were made aware of this and all of my teachers wanted to push me to move up those sets, to get those grades that I needed. By the time I reached year 9 I was in set 3/6, this was an excellent confidence boost for me. As I moved up a set the teachers wanted to carry on pushing me, they wanted me to succeed. Eventually in years 10 and 11 I had made it into set 2/6. I was in the top 2 sets of my year group, an amazing achievement on both mine and my teacher's behalf. Throughout my GCSE year I was told my target grades; English D, Maths D, Science D, etc. All of my grades were lower than my learning group. The amount of support I received from my teachers was indescribable. I was given tutors, extra lessons and all of this resulted in my final GCSE grades. 3 A's, 7 B's and 1 C.
Personally, choosing a sixth form was no problem, I knew I wanted to carry on my learning at the college. I knew that if I came here I would not struggle for support and remarkable education. Most of this may not appeal to you. This is my story but there are several other reasons why I decided to come here instead of the other competitive sixth forms;
They are just a few of the reasons why I and others chose to come to The Minster College Sixth Form. I now do 3 A levels with General studies. As well as the academic options the College offers, we also offer extra circular activities.
I really do hope that you consider The Minster College as your Sixth Form. It is a decision which I do not regret and I am sure you won't either.
